DEVELOPERS have been given approval to build a block of 12 flats.
The application for Littleworth Street, Evesham, went before Wychavon District Council's development control committee on Thursday. It voted to approve the scheme.
The company plans to demolish existing commercial and storage building at the site and build a three-storey block of apartments, comprising three one-bedroom and nine two-bedrooom homes. Each flat would also have one parking space.
Evesham Town Council objected to the scheme on the grounds that the proposed development would dominate the street scene and would make existing parking and traffic problems worse.
But committee member and mayor of Evesham Jo Sandalls said the site was in need of developing.
The members also voted to grant conservation area consent to demolish the existing buildings.
