WORCESTERSHIRE boosted their promotion ambitions with a 22-point win over Glamorgan at Colwyn Bay -- their fifth victory in six Liverpool Victoria County Championship division two matches.

Having set Glamorgan 503 to win Worcestershire bowled them out for just 191 in their second innings in 42.4 overs to win by 311 runs.

The early damage was done by Matt Mason who bowled 13 overs unchanged before lunch, recording figures of 4-56.

And, from 115-5 at lunch, Nadeem Malik, Roger Sillence (3-9) and Zaheer Khan mopped up the rest in 16.2 overs of the afternoon session.

Glamorgan's demise began as early as the eighth ball of the day when Mark Cosgrove was trapped right in front of his stumps by Mason.

Ryan Watkins' and David Hemp's second-wicket partnership realised 49 runs when Mason's surge began.

In-form Mason struck Hemp on the right elbow and he was forced to retire hurt with his side 62-1.

Two overs later, Michael Powell edged Mason behind and Malik bowled Watkins.

Glamorgan sunk to 96-5 as Mason extracted bounce and movement from a previously benign pitch.

He had Franklin caught behind and wicketkeeper Steven Davies took a stunning catch to remove Richard Grant.

Mark Wallace became Davies' fourth victim, this time from Malik, and Alex Wharf cut Sillence to Ben Smith.

At 163-7, Hemp resumed his innings but could only add two before he was trapped lbw by Sillence.

The ninth wicket fell when David Harrison was caught at leg slip off Khan.

And the final one fell when Kyle Tudge edged Sillence to first slip to leave Croft stranded on 44.
