A TEMPORARY position lasted for a quarter of a century for a Worcester employee, who is only now leaving the post.
Julia King (known as Jules), who has worked in the accounts department at St George's Square-based Market Link Creative Marketing for 25 years, was presented with a gold watch and a bouquet from the company, as well as a pair of gold, blue topaz and diamond earrings from her colleagues during a farewell presentation ceremony.
From Fernhill Heath, Jules leaves with many fond memories as well as some good friends. She said: "I only ever planned to take the job on a temporary basis but enjoyed it so much I stayed. There were only six of us at the time, but I've watched the company grow along with the people who work here.
"I've been around when many of them have celebrated milestone birthdays, got married and had children, so they feel like part of my own extended family and I feel really lucky to have had the opportunity to work with such a fantastic group of colleagues. I'll miss them all."
David Pickering, managing director and one of the founding members of the company, said: "I'm sure my colleagues will agree that it's been an absolute pleasure to work with Jules. She's made a significant contribution to the company over the years, and she's been a valuable member of the team.
"We've had a great time working together and shared lots of laughs in the past, which I'm sure we'll continue to do in the future. Although we'll miss her around the office, we will look forward to seeing her again as we know she'll be popping in regularly to stay in touch with her friends."
Jules will meet up with her former workmates and the company's clients again next week when Market Link celebrates its 25th anniversary during a special event to be held at Worcester racecourse on Pitchcroft.
