MALVERN completed their second successive WCL division two win on Saturday, defeating Coombs Wood by six wickets.

MALVERN v COOMBS WOOD

Coombs Wood batted first on another excellent wicket prepared by Dave Hinton and totalled 226, a below par score. Adam and Jon Dovey both bowled tremendous spells throughout the innings to claim seven wickets between them.

Malvern's fielding was again impressive and Luke Halion's fine captaincy meant the visitors were never able to get away from their hosts.

Malvern started brightly until Mark Baugh was out with 27 on the board, which brought Ollie Bendall to the crease. Bendall immediately showed why he is currently the league's most in-form batsman, with some scintillating shots.

Dovey departed for a useful 32, but Bendall continued to annihilate the bowling, reaching a majestic hundred with his ninth 6, he also hit 10 4s in one of the best innings ever seen at Regency Road, finally falling at 110.

Turner had a little wobbler after Bendall departed, but Andrew Cullen and Dan Besgrove saw Malvern home with some more brilliant hitting and claimed victory to the 40th over.

Malvern would like to thank Bourne and Mason for their generous sponsorship.
