RUSSELL Bennett was in brilliant form for Colwall seconds, taking nine wickets as his side charged to a ten-wicket victory.
COLWALL II V WORMELOW II
Colwall won the toss on an overcast day at Stowe Lane and elected to field, which looked to be a good decision with the threat of rain and Christian Elsden looking unplayable at times.
However, following some questionable no-ball calls skipper King turned to his spinners and wickets began to tumble, only Prince (60) and Merrick (41) offered any resistance to the Colwall attack and Wormelow collapsed to 157 all out after 41 overs. Russell Bennett took a stunning 9-52 and 14-year-old Tom Coleman took the other wicket.
In reply, openers Dave Taylor and Barny Bamford set off to finish the job themselves, Taylor batting with a style and flair rarely seen at this level and Bamford unleashing some thunderous shots including ten 4s and two 6s, giving Colwall a ten wicket victory in the 26th over with Bamford on 77no and Taylor 72no.
