AROUND about 2,000 plastic ducks will float along the River Avon to raise cash for the Bidford Christmas Lights project which is sponsored by Shakespeare Coffee Company and Aquaid this year.
The annual duck race, organised by the village's Christmas lights committee members, Pete Batacanin and Steve Holloway, will be held on Sunday, August 13 at 3pm at the Big Meadow in Bidford.
The overall winner could earn £100 if his or her duck floats in first and two cash prizes of £50 and 25 will be given to those in second and third places.
Bidford Christmas lights committee member Cheryl Sussens said: "We're hoping this year will be better than ever so we can provide villagers with a wonderful Christmas light show.
"All 2,000 ducks will be launched over the village bridge at 3pm so we're hoping that it's not a windy day otherwise they'll all blow over in direction of Evesham.
"The event is enjoyed by everyone and with each duck costing only £1 every one will help us achieve our target of £2,000."
