RESIDENTS' requests to close alleyways in Spennells where crime and anti-social behaviour take place are being examined by two Wyre Forest district councillors.
Liberal Democrat members, Peter and Helen Dyke, said concerns about problems caused in and around walkways in the area were raised at a PACT meeting in May.
The panel was asked about the possibility of having some of them closed to improve security and safety and the two councillors will head to Liverpool to visit areas where similar action has been carried out.
Mr Dyke said: "We are not making any promises and we are not saying that these gating orders could or should be implemented in Aggborough and Spennells, but some residents have asked the question and we feel they should be provided with as much information as possible."
Mr Dyke said the councillors would report back to residents at the next PACT meeting, adding: "If, after a full investigation into all the information, it isn't suitable for our area, then, at least, everyone knows all avenues have been explored fully."
Sylvia Smith, of Partridge Grove, said, however, she felt gating off alleyways was "ridiculous" and felt it would deter people from moving to Spennells.
She added: "I've lived here for 27 years and I have never seen any trouble in alleyways.
"It is going to look awful and make it a no-go area."
Mrs Smith said she was thinking of starting a petition as she believed there were many residents who were also against the idea.
Both councillors want to hear what residents think about gating off problem areas and can be contacted on 01562 741955.
