A PERSHORE man who had a dream of creating his own choir more than 30 years ago has finally taken the plunge and is set to see his vision realised.
Roger Jones, who lives in Holloway Drive, has set the wheels in motion for Avonside Chorus to become a reality and the early signs are that the choir will be well received in the Vale.
But for all the flyers and leaflets that Roger has produced, he is still looking for a musician with a little experience to accompany the group at rehearsals and concerts as well as someone with a portable keyboard.
Roger said: "I have been in music for a long time and when I retired not long ago, I found myself quite unoccupied, which made me think back to this dream I had about starting a choir.
"I have been putting it off for a long time but as I thought about it, I thought why don't I just make it happen instead of it remaining as just a dream.
"The response I have received has been very good so far with quite a few people on board already, but I don't know how many people will be involved yet. Finding a musician is crucial though, so I urge anyone interested to get in touch."
The Avonside Chorus is due to become a reality on Tuesday, September 5 when the inaugural gathering will take place in Pershore Town Hall, where preparations for carol singing and concerts at Christmas will begin in earnest.
To get involved, contact Roger on 01386 553036 or 07761 250865.
