MONTH-long works to make walking to school safer for pupils of Stourport First School got under way this week.
The £31,000 project followed a survey conducted by pupils, who explained how they got to and from school and hazards they encountered along the way.
The survey was part of Worcestershire County Council's School Travel Plan build initiative. Work involves realignment of the south and north sides of Tan Lane using dropped kerbs and tactile paving.
Existing school warning signs will be replaced and lighting and road markings will be upgraded.
Nicky Luff, TravelWise officer with the county council, said: "The latest improvements make the journey to and from school healthy and enjoyable.
