A BEWDLEY textile designer is on the look-out for a popular carpet from the 1950s to help complete an exhibition.
Cynthia Pearson, of Kidderminster Road, is putting together a display of floor coverings from the decade as well as the 1960s for Bewdley Festival in October.
The event's visual arts director is looking for a sample of Skater's Trail, which was popular during that time and she believes was produced in Kidderminster by Carpet Trades, which later became Gilt Edge and then Carpets International.
Mrs Pearson said the carpet had a very distinctive pattern, adding: "There were two colours. One of them, I think, had a red background and fine, short, curved lines in black, cream and grey, like a pattern a skater would make. The other one had a grey background and had the same lines in red, black and cream. The 50s, for me, was a very exciting period. When you say anything about Skater's Trail people will know exactly what you mean and are able to describe the carpet."
Mrs Pearson is hoping retired salesmen or anyone has who kept old carpet samples will be able to help and she can be contacted on 01299 400743.
