A MAPPLEBOROUGH Green dressage rider has been selected for the Great Britain team for this week's Frys international.

21-year-old Vikki Weaver is enjoying success in her first year as a senior (over 21) rider and has been competing at the Premier League shows at Small Tour (Prix St. Georges and Intermediare I) being placed around seventh to tenth.

Weaver, who has been riding since she was four, has been called up as a Senior at Small Tour for Frys and will attend trot up and vets inspections tomorrow before competing on My Charming Valentine from Thursday to Saturday.

The Warwickshire Colleg graduate took up dressage when she had her first pony at seven years old.

On My Charming Valentine she won the gold medal at Blarney in 2002, the British Dressage Sheepgate under 21s Young Rider Derby in 2003, was selected to attend BYRDS (British Young Riders Dressage Scheme) National Training 2004/2005 and placed tenth at the British Dressage Winter Championships last year.

She was also selected to represent Great Britain at Addington CDIY as a Young Rider last year and finished eigth at Hickstead CDIY.

Weaver has been sponsored by her college and qualified for talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme funding during her studies and has applied for the World Class Start and Potential Squads.
