LIGHTNING caused damage to property in a number of instances during the storm which struck the Midlands on Friday night.
There were two storms over Redditch during the evening, with torrential rain falling most of the time.
Gutters filled up and for a short period, some roads resembled small rivers.
Lightning struck a house in Oakenshaw Road, causing a certain amount of damage to structure and to furniture and a tree in Astwood Bank was also hit.
It was badly cracked but not felled and will have to be removed.
The storm caused power cuts in Worcestershire, Herefordshire and some districts in Redditch.
They were without supplies for a time on Friday night.
