MUSICAL duo Rare Breed are coming to Redditch with a performance at the Oast House pub in Church Hill on Saturday, August 12.

Tony May and Keith Jones offer a blend of contemporary music styles and modern songs fused with jazz, new country, blues, folk and Celtic into their own style.

Tony, on vocals, acoustic, electric guitars and bass drum, has worked as a full-time musician, producer and engineer for more than 15 years, working extensively on the live music scene both as a solo artist, as well as playing with various bands.

He also toured as guitarist for the American new country singer Katy Moffat.

During a three-year period, Tony managed to produce, play and sing more than 15 top 20 European Country chart hits, including three number ones.

As well as being a prolific songwriter, Tony is a multi-instrumentalist and after signing a publishing deal with Warner Chappell in 1997, he recorded his first solo album, Mother Earth, writing 90 per cent of the songs. He also played all of the instruments.

And Keith, whose talents include vocals, fiddle, mandolin, ukulele, classical and lap steel guitars, has a background stemming more than 30 years from the Birmingham Brum Beat scene and the Folk Music Revival.

Over the years, he has supported such diverse and now legendary acts such as Irish cult band Horslips and Fairport Convention.

Keith made a leading contribution to Brum Beat Live with his band Bright Eyes and his last band, The Road North, made a powerful impact on the folk music scene in 1997.

Admission to the Oast House gig is free and it will start at about 8.30pm.
