Kidderminster Victoria 285-6 Droitwich Spa 155 all out
Droitwich lost by 130 runs
TWO fine individual performances with the bat condemned Droitwich to a heavy defeat at the hands of Kidderminster in the Worcestershire Sunday Club League.
Droitwich had no answer to Kidderminster batsmen Matthew Layton and Craig Wood, as the duo posted big scores and guided their side to a hard to surpass 285 in 45 overs.
The game had started in Spa's favour when Martin Woodward had opener Philip Shaw caught by Neil Davies for eight runs. Layton made sure Kidderminster hit back hard with an emphatic 70. Damon Gariff got rid of Darren Andrews for nine runs but Wood's 113 once again gave Kidderminster the boost the team needed.
Richard Ferley was Spa's main wicket taker with 3-53, while Josh Staines also picked up a wicket.
Droitwich's reply with the bat got off to a bad start when Andrew Van Vuuren (0) and Steve Walsh (3) were bowled out by Andrew Siwicki.
Gariff (36) and Staines (33) launched a Spa fight back, before they fell victim to Siwicki.
Ferley (28) and Andrew Fletcher (21) also tried in vain to keep Droitwich in the game but once they were dismissed Spa collapse to 155 all out in the 28th over.
