A CONCERNED Church Hill resident is warning people to be on the lookout for a fawn he spotted on Sunday.

Chris Haynes, of Fulbrook Close, said he saw the young deer on Moons Moat Drive at about 8am when he and his family were leaving for a day trip.

"It started to cross the road, and then jumped back - I am a bit concerned about it because it's not something you see around the industrial areas," he said.

"We couldn't see a mother with it and it could not have been very old. Being so small, if it tries to get across the roads, it could get hurt."

An RSPCA spokesman said they were uncertain whether it was a fawn, as some species of deer in the Midlands were particularly small and it was not uncommon to find them in towns.

"Our advice would be for traffic to slow down and people to be considerate and try not to scare them," he said.

"We would not go in there and take them out but if it's injured or in any pain, people should contact the RSPCA on 08703 335999 or the Cruelty Line on 08705 555999."
