VISUAL arts in Redditch will receive a cash boost thanks to the sale of a NEW College property in the town centre.
The college is giving a £100,000 grant to arts groups following the sale of the Old Library Restaurant in Church Green.
The property was covered by an old covenant and funds released will ensure the continuity of investment into the arts of up to £5,000 per year.
A new charity is being set up to manage the money, working in association with Redditch Arts Council and the Peakman Street college.
Arts Council spokesman Malcolm Hall said: "This is great news for Redditch.
"We will shortly have funds available to artists and organisations who wish to set up educational projects for the visual arts, which can include drawing, painting, sculpting etc, for children or adults.
"I expect to see some stimulating exhibitions and displays around the town as a result of this, as well as hopefully some emerging new talent.
"People wishing to apply for funds need to fill out a simple form and every bid will be evaluated on its own merits."
Application forms and further details are available from the Redditch Arts Council display at Redditch Library, Alcester Street.
