A SALVATION Army day centre for vulnerable people is under threat of closure.
Worcestershire County Council has decided it will no longer fund the day centre in Newtown Road, Malvern.
But centre users had not been told what will be set up to replace it.
Major Adrian Stringer, of the Salvation Army, which has run the centre since 1997, said it is open three days a week for people with physical or sensory impairments.
"There are 15 wonderful people for whom the day centre provides many different things, including a place to get together.
"If the county council decides to stop funding the Salvation Army to provide it, that's their choice, but I am worried that we've not been told about what is being provided to replace it."
A council spokesman said the service will be continued and the name of the new service operator was due to be announced yesterday (Thursday).
"We are confident that the change in service provider will be of benefit to users in terms of value and service delivery," she said.
MP Sir Michael Spicer has written to Jennie Bashforth, the county's director of social services, asking why the centre is being closed and what alternatives are being provided.
