Firstly, may I take this opportunity to thank our local police team, lead by PC Pullen, for its excellent efforts to tackle recent problems in the area.
PC Pullen and his team have been bombarded with troubles of late but have dealt with them both quickly and professionally. They are a credit and deserve some praise instead of constant criticism.
My husband and I were victims of the crimes by youths in the area and I suffered regular panic attacks due to it. Thanks to the police support I now feel a lot better.
Though victims ourselves, I can't help but feel that we, as a community, are responsible.
Malvern as a town is moving forward and developing but providing nothing of interest for the teenagers, forgetting that they are part of the community too.
We have provisions for babies, parents, professionals and the elderly but where do the adults of tomorrow fit in?
Ask them, give them responsibility, stop putting them in boxes and guide them into being better adults.
Negativity breeds negativity and though a challenge we must deal with it in a constructive manner, jointly, as a community.
They need to do things of interest to them, not what 'we' remember enjoying.
These children are our future and the way things are going in the world today we are making a bad enough job of it as things stand. Poverty, debt and war are what they see. I should imagine they wonder what the future holds for them.
I have offered some ideas to PC Pullen on ways we could move forward with this and if anybody has any support or ideas to give, then please to do not hesitate to contact him.
Malvern has always been a helpful community, let us hope we can be again.
Mrs E E Cloke, North Malvern Road, Malvern.
