ON June 8, speaker Ray Sturdy presented Malvern, Unforgettable Memories.

His talk, with the aid of slides, covered the special Victorian attractions of Malvern Spa and hills.

It was interesting to note it was a favourite spot for the rich and Queen Victoria, when young, spent some months in Malvern recovering from ill health. The proceeds from Ray's shows are donated to Mencap.

The 44th AGM took place on June 22. Following many interesting reports, the committee was re-elected en-bloc with the exception of Margaret Poole, who is unable to continue due to work commitments. Thanks were given for her loyal support.

Thanks were also extended to Tricia Pursey for compiling the interesting and comprehensive scrap books which were on display.

The social time was spent listening to members favourite music.

On a beautiful June evening, members set off on their annual mystery trip, the venue being the Nature in Art Museum and Art Gallery near Gloucester and a visit to a lovely Worcestershire garden on another beautiful evening completed the June programme.

Two very interesting meetings were held in May.

On the 11th, members' hobbies were exhibited, including oil painting, a collection of advertising pots, costumes and props made for local entertainment and of particular interest was the craft of making exquisite handicrafts from palm leaves, which member Sheila Sullivan purchased on a recent visit to the tiny island of Saipan.

The speaker on the 25th was Sue Merrell, who joined the police force in London 1972 and recalled her experiences of her duties on the beat, both amusing and serious and later in the mounted police controlling football crowds, riots, also escort duty on Royal occasions. Following her long service, a complete change of career in 1992 brought her to Worcestershire where she began rare black pig and sheep farming and now enjoys showing her prize sow at county shows.
