ON a beautiful summer evening, 40 members met at Broadhouse Farm, Cutnall Green, to celebrate the 40th birthday of Ipsley WI, Crabbs Cross with Hunt End WI having celebrated 40 years previously.
A meal followed a walk around the Miller family's delightful garden.
President Judith Scott welcomed everyone on this special occasion. She thanked all who had helped at the recent group garden party held at Jackie Gregory's home, also those who had helped, made donations or baked cakes for the stall at the Alexandra Hospital fete, which had raised £174.35.
The August meeting will be a coach outing to Selly Manor in Bournville.
There were still a few places on the October coaches to London.
There was a ramble from the Holly Bush pub on Gorcott Hill on July 19.
A toast was made to Ipsley with Crabbs Cross WI, many beautiful birthday cards, some handmade, were read and members enjoyed a beautiful birthday cake, made and iced by Alison Warren.
Minutes of the first monthly meeting of Ipsley WI were read, the president at that time being the late Eve Sellwood.
A report of the first meeting hosted by Ipsley of the then Astwood Bank Group was also read. That evening had been on a Chinese theme with 320 ladies present.
