REDDITCH police station opened its doors to the public on Sunday to offer an insight into how it operates.
Visitors were able to see the mobile CCTV van in action and look around some of the other vehicles police use.
Youngsters had the chance to play detective by examining a mock crime scene and picking out the ''offender'' in a video ID parade.
Specialist dog handlers brought along police animals and explained their vital role and visitors could look over a selection of stands including recruitment, diversity, drugs awareness and crime prevention.
The fire brigade were also at the open day providing demonstrations.
Chief Insp Angela Burnet said the day had been a tremendous success, adding: "It's a nice occasion for us to open our doors and let people see what we do and some of the equipment available to us.
''There was lots for children to see and get involved in and everyone seemed to be thoroughly enjoying it."
