THERE is an outside chance that Zaheer Khan and Phil Jaques may both be missing for Worcestershire's crucial end-of-season run-in.
Having returned to Worcester today after five weeks playing for Australia 'A' in the Top End Series, it has been revealed that Jaques will be leaving England once again to join his international colleagues for a two-week training camp at the end of August.
On top of this, rumours are rife India and Australia are planning to organise a one-day series during September and both of Worcestershire's overseas stars could be involved.
New Road chief executive Mark Newton said: "Phil Jaques is scheduled to arrive back in Worcester today and he should go into the team to play Glamorgan at Colwyn Bay on Wednesday.
"But he has to go back to Australia for a training camp on August 20 until September 2.
"We have asked Lou Vincent to stay on and train with the squad so he can cover for Phil when he goes away again.
"There is also a rumour that India may play a one-day series somewhere in the world and, although Zaheer Khan is not part of the squad at the moment, there is no doubt he'll be in the selectors' minds after his form for us this season.
"If he did get called up it would be up to Bumpy (Steve Rhodes) if we were to try and sign a replacement.
"But with just a couple of weeks left in the season, I imagine we would stick with what we have."
