WORCESTERSHIRE director of cricket Steve Rhodes is remaining positive that a result is still possible in his side's Liverpool Victoria County Championship match with Glamorgan -- but admits the outcome could depend on the weather.
With rain forecast for today, Rhodes is looking for his bowlers to knock over the visitors as quickly as possible so they can chase a division two victory target.
He said: "I think our batting could have been better. Phil Jaques got us off to a great start and nearly all of the batsmen contributed, but that is what was quite frustrating --people did the hard work of getting themselves in, then got out.
"We did score quickly though, which was good in the context of the game, and we were looking to get a good start with the ball.
"I thought we bowled well at times, but our direction was too wide on occasions. Dan Cherry batted well, but he was able to let far too many balls go by.
"Where the game goes from here, I'm not sure, but we will be attacking from the start and looking to take wickets and set up a run chase. However, it all depends on the weather and the forecast says there could well be rain."
Worcestershire did not re-sume their first innings until 1.30pm because of a damp outfield, but Vikram Solanki and Jaques took their partnership to 86 before the skipper played a back-foot waft outside off-stump to a David Harrison delivery.
The ball found a thick edge and was pouched by Mark Wallace.
Jaques, who had passed 50 for the third time in his first three County innings, was next man out when he chopped a ball from Harrison onto his stumps for 73.
Ben Smith then hit a bright and breezy 21 before being bowled through the gate by Ryan Watkins.
Early in his innings, Graeme Hick deposited Harrison twice through mid-wicket then once more right over the same region as he strolled to 23. But he then played too early at an Alex Wharf delivery and got a leading edge which was comfortably gathered by Mark Cosgrove at gully.
Steven Davies was next back in the pavilion when he hit a leg-stump half-volley straight to Nicky Peng at square-leg.
Gareth Batty slashed the ball to Wharf at slip, Roger Sillence, having hit some lusty boundaries in his 27, holed out to Peng at deep square-leg off Harrison and Zaheer Khan skied a Ryan Watkins delivery to Robert Croft at mid-off as the hosts lost three wickets for 29 runs.
Nadeem Malik was then last man out with the score on 252 -- a lead of just 13 -- to give Harrison his fifth wicket of the innings.
In Glamorgan's reply, Cosgrove, who had looked dangerous, retired hurt with a back niggle before Deavid Hemp and Mike Powell fell to Davies' catches off Zaheer and Kabir respectively.
Opener Dan Cherry was unbeaten on 40 at the close with the visitors on 90-2 -- a lead of 77.
