WORCESTERSHIRE'S bowlers gave the County a ray of light on a mainly gloomy first day of their Liverpool Victoria County Championship match with Glamorgan at New Road.
Only 44 overs were bowled yesterday due to rain, but Aussie import Mark Cosgrove managed to crash 61 as he shared a stand of 102 -- Glamorgan's best first-wicket partnership since last June -- with Dan Cherry.
However, the visitors lost three wickets in five overs as Zaheer Khan (2-41) and Kabir Ali (1-35) found their range late in the day.
Zaheer had Cosgrove, who hit 11 fours and a six, caught behind by Steven Davies in the 30th over to claim his 20th Championship wicket at New Road.
Cherry was then bowled for 33 by a Kabir Ali yorker three overs later and, after a further two overs, Zaheer and Davies combined once more to dismiss Mike Powell for four.
Glamorgan resume today on 133-3 with David Hemp (12) and Nicky Peng (8) at the crease.
