WORCESTERSHIRE were struggling to save the follow-on as the third day'splay came to a close in the County Championship Division Two match with Surrey at the Brit Oval.
The County started the day on 55-0, still trailing Surrey's mammoth first inning total of 501-7 declared.
Overnight batsmen Phil Jaques and Steven Moore took their first wicket stand past the 100 mark before Jaques fell to leg-spinner Ian Salisbury for 61.
Moore (75) continued his return to form until he became Salisbury's second victim with the score on 140.
After that it was a case of Worcestershire batsmen making a good start then getting out before they could go on to a big score.
Vikram Solanki (16), Ben Smith (34), Graeme Hick (26) and Gareth Batty (4) all fell to left-arm spinner Nayan Doshi as the County slipped to 273-6.
It was left to Steven Davies (40) and Kabir Ali (14) to see their side to 314-6 at the close -- still 37 runs short of saving the follow-on.
