WORCESTERSHIRE suffered a heavy 183-run defeat in their second warm-up game of the season against Essex at Chelmsford yesterday.
Essex smashed the County attack to all corners as they piled up 317-5 from their 50 overs. Ben Phillips was the star for the hosts as he hammered an unbeaten 144.
Matt Mason, who claimed 2-27, was the pick of the County bowlers.
Daryl Mitchell top-scored for Worces-tershire with 34 as Steve Rhodes' men were dismissed for just 134.
