WARRIORS chief Cecil Duckworth believes Worcester is on the way to becoming a major rugby city.
With the added capacity planned for Sixways, Duckworth hopes his club will provide enough excitement to rival West Country rivals Bath and Gloucester.
"I think we are moving in that direction," he said. "We haven't got the history of Bath and Gloucester. They have been in the top (flight) for some considerable time.
"But, with due respect to those clubs, their facilities are nowhere near as good as ours.
"The atmosphere we have here is second to none. You hear a lot about the Gloucester shed but I think ours is up to that."
Duckworth believes the rise to prominence of Warriors has been met with great enthusiasm by the Worcester public as well as people from the surrounding areas.
He said: "I've been amazed by the level of interest in the city.
"With the park and ride and the increase of activities in the banqueting and conferencing side, more and more people will know where the rugby club is."
