A QUAD bike rider was thrown 20 feet into a ditch and had to be airlifted to hospital following a collision with a grey Ford Transit van at Avon Bank in Pershore.
The accident was just outside Pershore College of Horticulture on Tuesday (25) at around 2.45pm. The driver of the bike, aged 22, was taken to Worcester Royal Hospital with what were thought to be internal injuries and a broken ankle. He was detained overnight.
The driver also had a passenger on the bike who was taken, by road, to Worcester Royal.
The road had to be closed off for around three hours.
A spokesman for the County Air Ambulance said: ""It took along time to be able to get him out safely. He was unconscious and had received head and spinal injuries so he was taken by air ambulance."
Police are appealing for witnesses who saw either vehicle immediately prior to the collision to call 08457 444 888.
