THE fight to save Wolverley's Drakelow Tunnels site has been boosted after the issue was taken to the floor of the House of Commons.
Wyre Forest MP, Dr Richard Taylor, secured an adjournment debate last Thursday on the future of the historic complex, which was the subject of controversial plans earlier this year.
Birmingham-based social enterprise group, Jericho, sparked outrage among residents when it submitted proposals to Wyre Forest District Council to use the site as a training centre for the unemployed.
Dr Taylor received support from South Staffordshire MP, Sir Patrick Cormack and Ian Austin, who represents the Dudley North constituency, during the debate.
A Government heritage White Paper, due to be published in the autumn, is set to outline reforms aimed at making it easier to attempt to protect sites like Drakelow.
