CHILDREN, staff and governors from Holy Redeemer School in Pershore, have been celebrating after a sparkling double-whammy.
The school on Priest Lane underwent an Ofsted inspection in June and was described as a 'good school with some outstanding features'.
But that was not the end of the success as governor Michael Sait was presented with the DfES (Department for Education and Skills) award for Governor of the Year by the lead inspector.
The standards reached by children in the school achieved a grade one mark, meaning they were exceptionally and consistently high, and other areas marked out for special praise included the standard of teaching, personal development and the strength of the varied curriculum.
Headteacher Hilary Rowlands said: "I am so proud of my staff and my children. They have really excelled themselves with this report, they all deserve enormous credit for our fantastic school."
Chair of Governors Jim Wilson added: "We are all so thrilled to end the term on such a high, we are really on the road to excellence."
Deputy Headteacher Olive Williams also paid tribute to the determination and dedication of Michael Sait, who has worked tirelessly for over six years to improve the school.
She said: "Michael is a real asset to our school and is always helping out in any way that he can. His main work includes overseeing the new buildings we have recently had built at the school. The children love him, he also helps out by listening to the children read, judging competitions and he deserves the award very much."
