A SPORTS programme designed for people with disabilities has been a success, according to organisers.
Athletes competed in a range of activities, including a penalty shootout, as well as various athletic events at the grand final at Stourport Sports Club.
All returned home with a certificate and those who showed exceptional enthusiasm and sportsmanship received medals.
The day marked the completion of the two-year sports programme run by Wyre Forest District Council's sports development unit and Wyre Forest Mencap, now named GOLD.
The event was organised to showcase activities that had taken place throughout the programme and to show how far athletes had progressed. The group had been successful in an Awards for All Lottery funding bid for the two-year programme
Councillor Nathan Desmond, responsible for community and leisure services, said: "The event is a great way to conclude this programme, which has provided 50-plus people with an opportunity to excel in their chosen sports.
"The feedback has been extremely positive and we are currently investigating accessing funding to continue the programme."
