A COLOURFUL array of flowers greeted judges at the annual Bewdley in Bloom competition.
Seventeen judges viewed the entries from across the town, considering them all to be of a "high standard".
Among the 16 categories there was recognition for the best vegetable garden, best mobile home surround and best shop front, as well as a commercial or club section.
Wribbenhall Middle School scooped top prize in both the corner or passageway category and best school section in the Bewdley in Bloom contest.
The judges were particularly impressed with its project, "Bloomin Bewdley Rubbish", which saw potted plants in and around a display which included an old wheelbarrow, a delivery boy's bicycle and an old travelling trunk.
Wribbenhall First School, St Anne's Middle School and St Anne's First School also entered the same category.
Secretary of the Bewdley in Bloom contest, Hugh Morgan, said: "The pupils of Wribbenhall Middle were most enthusiastic. The four schools which took part were each given 100 plants.
"These gifts, along with greater enthusiasm among staff, pupils and parents, seem to have catalysed a high degree of effort."
Head teacher Janet Bickerton said: "We have a thriving lunchtime and after school environmental club and pupils are very keen and enthusiastic to care for and improve our environment.
"We are particularly proud of winning the corner and passageway section as, not only were we competing against adults, but we have shown our pupils how to reuse items that would normally have been thrown away".
