WE were surprised to read 'Homes scheme gets go-ahead' in the July 13 issue of the Shuttle/Times & News and that an island is to be created near the Hazelwood Close/Sutton Park Road junction, so that the traffic will be slowed down as 14 homes are to be built at Sutton Reservoir.
After many attempts at lobbying Worcester highways department, councillors and police and a big petition signed by many people for something to be done at the very dangerous junctions of Sutton Park Road (almost opposite Crestwood Avenue) on the very busy Bewdley Hill, we have consistently been fobbed off with excuses.
These have included claims that the service providers for gas, electric, water and telephone will not co-ordinate or come up with the finance when property/land has been purchased for alterations.
In the news item it was stated that Councillor Marcus Hart, who incidentally was totally behind the aforementioned petition, was delighted and welcomed the idea of the roundabout near Hazelwood Close to slow down traffic.
So, hopefully, other funds set to be contributed/available for "improving two Bewdley Hill junctions" surely must include the one with the A456 that brings concern?
Or perhaps we just have to wait for more homes to be built!
