A HEREFORD United legend and ex-Worcester City footballer has died.
Roger Griffiths suffered a heart attack at the age of 62, only six months since retiring from his job as an engineer at Hereford United's current club sponsor, Sun Valley. Hereford-born Mr Griff-iths was a lifelong fan of The Bulls, and joined them in 1970 from Worcester City - a club he would return to later on in his career.
In 1972 he famously played with a broken leg for nearly 80 minutes in Hereford United's giant-killing 2-1 victory over Newcastle United in the third round of the FA Cup.
The right back will also be recorded in the club's history books as Hereford United's first-ever substitute in 1966.
He was recently shortlisted for the FA Cup Team of Heroes after a poll on the club's website ranked him as their all-time greatest FA Cup defender.
