THE headmaster of Great Malvern Primary is retiring after a successful five years at the school.
Jonathan Sides says he has enjoyed every minute of teaching but is looking forward to spending more time with his family.
"I cannot get over how much I have enjoyed my time at Malvern," he said. "It really has been a great place to work. I've had smashing staff who work really hard for the children, and the children themselves really are a delight.
"I'll miss the day-to-day busy-ness. I went into teaching in the first place for the children and they're the ones I'll miss the most. It's the best job in the world by far."
Mr Sides is marking his departure by joining the year six leavers' 'Pizza and Pistols' party. This is an annual event where the young leavers are treated to pizza, before embarking on a water fight.
The headteacher is traditionally a spectator and photographer of this event, but has been convinced to join in this year.
