ALL the people who attended the village fete last Sunday enjoyed some wonderful summer weather, lots of activities and New Orleans jazz from the excellent Creole Serenaders. The hall committee thank everyone who made the day so good.
Jenny Mackie retired last week after 11 years of running the games night in the hall on alternate Fridays.
It all began in May 1995 in the old hall, with a group of parents who were keen to get a youth club going in the village. Judith Hamill and Jenny took on the organisation, which originally only offered games, but later on craft activities widened the scope of the evenings.
Jenny was presented with a rose bush and other presents at a party on her last night in charge and everyone showed great appreciation of her efforts over the years. In future, games night will be run more on a committee basis, with Nicole Newby and Edwina Brown forming a list of parents who will take charge on a rotational basis - more parents and children will always be welcomed.
