WORK is due to start in the autumn on a £27,000 extension to Malvern Cemetery.
The new burial area will be created on part of the Madresfield Road allotments, which are adjacent to the cemetery.
The cemetery is almost full and the extension will provide burial plots for local people for the next five to ten years.
Surveyors have dug bore holes to ensure the land is suitable for burials and, following a meeting of Malvern Town Council's operations committee work can now go ahead. Work is due to start in September and should be completed by December.
