The skyline around Malvern could be improved as part of a new initiative to bury low voltage electricity cables in areas of outstanding natural beauty.
Funding will come from OFGEM, the office of gas and electricity markets, as part of their responsibility to conserve and enhance the natural beauty of protected areas.
Bryan Smith, chairman of Malvern Hills Conservators, said: "It's a very good scheme and I'm very supportive of it. It will improve things and we're pleased someone's providing the funding for it."
A working group is now being set up by the conservators to look at which areas would benefit most from having their electricity poles removed and cables buried.
Once possible sites have been identified, the conservators will work alongside local councils to make the final choice.
