POLICE believe a wrecked speedboat found sunk in the River Severn was stolen from outside the local area.
The blue and white Legorge craft was recovered near Upton at 10.35pm on Wednesday, July 12, with the aid of Mercia Inshore Search and Rescue. It was badly holed beneath the water-line and the engine and decking were missing.
Detailed searches of the water and river banks were undertaken in an attempt to ensure that no-one was drowned or injured when it went under water.
Officers are also considering a report from the crew of a passing leisure craft that cushions were earlier seen floating in the water, suggesting that it had not been under water very long.
Anyone with information about the boat should call 08457 444888.
