COLWALL continued their chase for honours in the Worcestershire County League division three south with a trip to fifth-placed Martley.

Colwall won the toss and elected to field. The Martley innings was slow to take off with Colwall holding the home team to three runs an over for the first 30 overs. Damien Berry was the most dangerous bowler with two fine spells of swing bowling.
What ensued for the last 20 overs was a fielding performance to forget, a host of dropped catches, specifically Martley batsman P Bibby, who was dropped four times and went on to score 120no, meant that Colwall did not capitalise on their initial strong position.
Martley upped the run-rate and finished on a challenging total of 245-4 off their 50 overs.
The wicket-takers for Colwall were Damien barry with 2-51 and Mike King with 1-53.
Luckily, the Colwall batsman were up for the run-chase, Charlie Griffiths went in up the order and smashed 54 off only 38 balls.
Then Tom Wolfendale joined Dave Powell at the crease and as they have done so many times before for Colwall, they put together a match winning partnership of 98, Wolfendale making a stylish 55
Dave Powell had set out to bat all the way through and he did just that finishing with 92 no off 95 balls and included 17 fours.
He deservedly won man-of- the-match, voted for by his team mates.
Colwall eventually reached the target for four wickets with skipper Butler hitting a 6 to win the match.
Colwall finished 251-4 off 42 overs.
Tomorrow (Saturday), Colwall are at home to mid-table Birlingham.
