BARNARDS Green seconds played host to Stourbridge on a sweltering hot Sunday and despite winning the toss, Marek Wajzer decided to field.
BARNARDS GREEN SUNDAY II v STOURBRIDGE II
Chris Hill and Ian Badsey toiled away in the early overs and despite finding the right areas, had little success. Leg-spinner Justin McMillan was introduced and soon picked up a wicket as the openers tried to force the pace.
Robin Longmore was introduced to follow his son Jamie, who bowled tidily with little success. Robin's slower ball soon troubled the batsmen and despite some sluggish fielding, he picked up a couple of useful wickets. Dave Price was unlucky to drop a couple of chances but Chris Hill was introduced and mopped-up the tail leaving the Green 245 to chase.
Youngsters Simon Ball (44) and Justin McMillan (57) soon set about the bowling and raced to 136 before Ball perished after some mighty sweeps.
Matt Higgs soon followed but Hill and McMillan pushed the score along before McMillan lost his wicket for a fine knock. Robin Longmore joined Hill and they pushed the score along to 170 before Longmore was given out caught.
Young Adam Price came in for the knock of the day. Two mighty straight sixes and some glorious drives and Price (37no) and Hill (44no) saw the Green home comfortably with six wickets and 12 overs left.
