MALVERN'S Paul Yorke has been scoring runs for fun in his last three cricket games and in between still had the drive to win a national golf competition.
Twenty-three-year-old Paul, of Walnut Crescent, Malvern, scored 83 runs opening for Barnards Green thirds against Highley on Saturday, July 8, helping the team to a 154-run league win.
On Thursday, July 13, he won the British Gas national competition at Hawkestone Park, Shrewsbury, with 41 stableford points scored off a handicap of three. Paul had reached the finals through a regional qualifier at Stockport.
He won the event three points clear of the runner-up.
The following Saturday it was back to cricket with an outstanding knock of 138no for Barnards Green thirds at division championship rivals Kidderminster Victoria.
And finally, on Monday evening he scored and unbeaten 101 to help Barnards Green seconds retain their Worcestershire County League second XI KO cup against Coombs Wood at Ombersley.
Paul said: "The major highlight for me was my golf success, even though I three-putted three of the par fives."
Paul, a member of The Worcestershire GC for 13 years, was hoping to get to the British Open to watch a friend, who had qualified.
