MALVERN'S Shaun Daly bids to land the biggest prize in UK pool when he travels to Coventry's Ricoh Arena on Sunday for the finals of The 4alot.com Pub Pool Challenge.
Daly, a 38-year-old manager of a window warehouse, has played pool for both England and Ireland but this will be his most high-profile event.
The one-frame format and £50,000 winner-takes-all prize has captured the imagination of pool players all over the country.
Daly, representing The Bakery Inn, won through his area final at Coventry's Rileys Club. Now he is one of 32 players in the televised finals, playing in a unique winner-stays-on format.
Daly said: "It's going to be nerve-wracking. But I've got as good a chance as anyone. Winning the £50,000 will be fantastic, I think I'd use the cash to put a deposit down on a house!"
