The Malvern Urban District Council and Messrs Meredith Bros, of Gloucester, the contractors for the laying of the pipe-track in connection with the recently-completed scheme for conveying water from Bromsberrow to the Malvern Council's reservoir at the British Camp, were defendants in two actions which came before his honour Judge Harris Lea at a special sitting of the Ledbury County Court on Thursday. The plaintiffs were the Ledbury Urban and Rural District Councils. Malvern News, July 21,1906.
GLORIOUS weather favoured the garden fete and fancy fair in the Rectory Garden at Tarrington, on Thursday last, the event being organised in aid of the Parish Room Fund, for which £300 was required. At the time of the fete, over £200 was forthcoming. But with Thursday's proceeds added, the deficit could be considerably reduced. There was a capital attendance, and the charmingly laid-out grounds were greatly admired. Ledbury Free Press, July 24, 1906.

The Shaw Centenary Week opens tomorrow (Saturday) with two outstanding events - an exhibition of personal treasures and relics of GBS, assembled from many parts of the world (including Poland) and for which the National Trust have loaned items from "Shaw's Corner", and a commemorative dinner. The dinner will have as chief guests St John Ervine, one of the playwright's closest friends; Sir Barry Jackson, who inaugurated the Shaw festivals; and David Davis, head of the BBC Children's Hour. Malvern Gazette, July 20, 1956.
THE old tag that the world is a small place was exemplified once again when a party of Ledbury Grammar School pupils were holidaying in northern Italy. It appears that, when visiting the cemetery in Milan, they got into conversation with an Italian who had been a prisoner of war in Ledbury, and who had actually helped to build the Camp Theatre. Sandwiched between the lighting of a bonfire on Worcestershire Beacon next Tuesday evening and the planting of a special tree on Thursday, a whole host of special events will take place in and around Malvern to celebrate the royal wedding on Wednesday. The Jubilee spirit of 1977 is being rekindled with street parties in many parts of the town. Malvern Gazette, July 23, 1981.
LICENSED celebrations on royal wedding day will end in Ledbury, as in Malvern, at midnight, on July 29. Ledbury magistrates granted an application for an extension until 5.30pm, and also up to midnight at the Hereford Bull, where the proprietor is planning a street barbecue. Ledbury Reporter, July 23, 1981.
