LATEST action at Broadway got off to a great start when Evesham were the visitors last Thursday evening in the Concorde League and returned home on the wrong end of a 113-84 reverse.
The hosts won on four of the five rinks with Colin Cooper continuing his good form aga-inst Brian Quarterman with a 26-14 victory, while Paul Spe-ake enjoyed a comfortable win over Colin Grinnell.
The match was always reasonably close but Broadway managed top pull away strongly in the closing ends helped by Cooper scoring 11 shots without reply on the last five ends.
Phil Taylor, meanwhile, recovered from 21-13 down after 17 ends to only lose by two shots and Paul Speake picked up seven shots to two over the last five ends to consolidate his winning position.
Captain Mick Aubrey, however, was in more generous mood losing 12 shots in five ends after being 19-5 up but he managed to hold on for a two-shot triumph.

On the same evening, defending rinks county champions Steve Aldren, Dave Cresswell, Dennis Hall and Mark Rainbow were in action against Mark Sandoz's rink from Gilt Edge.
The game turned on two ends when Rainbow converted a four-shot deficit into a four-shot advantage and the Broadway rink then scored five shots on the next end to pull away from their opponents.
Their 23-21 success saw them move into next Thursday's semi finals at Worcester.
Broadway entertained tourists from Devon the next afternoon and won on four of the six rinks to record a111-89 win.
Jack Harris scored a seven on the 17th end in a 23-17 win.

Saturday's friendly Triples game at Welford saw Broadway run out comfortable 120-79 winners when they won on five of the half-a-dozen rinks.
Dennis Hall led the charge opening up a 20-1 lead by the 12th end and coming home 25-7. Mick Aubrey scored eight shots in the last four ends to ease past John Willis 21-11 and Ernie Shorthouse scored a four on the last to secure a three-shot victory over Ron Barnwell.
