QUORN Van Den Eynde team men Tony Marshall and Roger Marlow saw off strong opposition to finish first and second in Sunday's latest Shakespeare qualifier on Evesham Town and Hampton Ferry Waters.
With the river low and very clear, the hot conditions were never going to result in exceptional catches especially as the match was fished the day after a Wychavon qualifier on the same pegs.
But, with big fish not showing, Marshall made the best of his peg 23 draw, two below the Town Bridge, to put together a 6-5-0 catch of small roach.
His teammate had car problems on the way to the draw but won enough to cover the cost of repairs when recording a 5-8-0 catch of roach from peg 12.
In third spot with a 4-10-0 catch of small chub from peg 36 was the ever-consistent Leigh Gardner.
Qualifying alongside Marshall were Pete Morris and Tony Avery.
