A CHORAL workshop will be held at Tewkesbury Abbey in September organised by Friends of Cathedral Music (FCM).
As part of FCM's golden jubilee celebrations, the workshop will take place on Saturday, September 30 from 10am until 12.30pm lead by Ralph Allwood, director of music at Eaton College.
Ralph is conductor of the Rodulfus Choir, which is made up from past and present members of the Eton College Choral Courses who come from all over the country to sing. They have made numerous recordings.
During the workshop, a chamber choir will be formed for the event using lay clerks and choral scholars plus some sopranos.
Since its founding in 1956, FCM has given nearly £1.4million to the choirs of cathedrals and large parish churches throughout Britain.
This year it has given £250,000 to mark 50 years of supporting Britain's heritage of cathedral music.
Anyone who wants to attend the choral workshop should contact Roger Bishton, FCM secretary, at roger@bishton7609.freeserve.co.uk or write to 21, Bradford Road, Trowbridge, Wiltshire, BA14 9AL.
