PARISH COUNCIL: All councillors were present at the recent meeting. Three members of the public attended and there were no matters requiring their participation. Routine business was dealt with. There was nothing to report on the question of the purchase of land for a new village hall.
A resolution was passed that the clerk should write to the appropriate body regarding the recent frequency of electricity failure.
The chairman spoke of his forthcoming meeting with the chairman of Norton Parish Council at which they plan a joint protest about the speed of traffic through the villages.
Cllr John Redman spoke of his gratification that the recent litter pick up had been well supported for which he thanked all participants.
Everyone present was reminded of the latest meeting for consultation about the Parish Plan.
In a discussion about affordable housing or re-housing Cllr Holt asked that members of the public should be informed that if they require help they should apply now.
A brief report was made on the recent consultation on the subject of gipsies and travellers and it was said that Wychavon District Council, having been one of the few councils to have met their obligations, may find themselves at an advantage when other neighbouring authorities are obliged to include sufficient sites in their development policies.
PARISH PLAN: Friday evening saw the last occasion on which villagers could put forward their suggestions for the future of the village. This meeting was the last in a series of efforts to get people to give their opinions and make suggestions for future improvements. The committee will now compile the comprehensive questionnaire which is the next stage. Peter Oliver and his committee are to be congratulated on the efforts they have made to ensure that all residents have been informed.
VILLAGE HALL APPEAL: There will be a fundraising evening in the village hall on Tuesday, August 1 at 7.30pm when the Mikron Theatre Company will present Mrs Brunel - story, with music, about life with Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Tickets £5 each from John Redman on 870255.
OPEN GARDEN: Sandra and Bob Byrd are opening their garden at The Close, Station Road on Monday, August 7, to raise money for church funds. Entry is £3. There will be various stalls and refreshments.
