ROYAL BRITISH LEGION WOMEN'S SECTION: The branch held their monthly meeting on July 4. Following the business meeting, a quiz was arranged by Sheila Grantham with prizes for the winner and runner-up. Members were reminded of the coffee morning at the home of chairman Wendy Griffiths at 2 Farleigh Road, Abbey Park, on Thursday, July 20 from 10am to noon. The next meeting of the branch is arranged for Tuesday, August 1 when the speaker will be Kay Scase, area representative and central committee member of the Royal British Legion Women's Section. The next committee meeting will be on Monday, July 24 when all committee are requested to attend to discuss invitations for the 60th anniversary lunch in November.
LADIES' GUILD: The Pershore Ladies Guild met at Wulstan Hall, Pershore, on July 4 to hear a very interesting talk given by G Williams entitled Down The Windrush. This was illustrated with slides showing various points of interest on the river via Upper Slaughter to Little Rissington,
After tea, which was very welcome in view of the heat, the general meeting commenced with a minute's silence for Barbara Roberts and Joyce Cooper, who had been members of the Guild but had recently passed away.
Various outings were discussed, together with future meetings.
The sales table - jams and marmalades- raised £11.20.
The next meeting will be on Tuesday, September 5 when Frank Townsend will be talking on Family Tree Tapping.
