Tenbury 228-2 Hanley Castle and Upton 227 all out
TENBURY recorded a resounding home victory against Hanley Castle and Upton after they won the toss and decided to field in Crusader Worcestershire Div 3 South.
Tenbury made an early breakthrough in the sixth over when Rob Downwood took a sharp catch off Ben Thompson.
Hanley then forged a good partnership, taking the score to 83 until Tom Rawlings dismissed the remaining opener, caught behind by Da Costa.
As Hanley approached 200, wickets started to tumble with Downwood taking two in one over and paceman Andy Adams chipping in with two in his second spell.
Thompson took a second wicket and Derek James dismissed three tail enders to end the innings on 227 in the 49th over.
The Tenbury innings began with Ben Thompson and Rob Downwood making the most of loose bowling.
The partnership was broken when Thompson was caught for 43 in a partnership of 136. After going on to score a further 50 with Andy Adams, Downwood was also caught with 66 runs to his name.
Jon Pearson (12) and Adams (52not out) saw Tenbury home to a win at 228-2 in the 39th over.
This week Tenbury travel to Old Vigorians of Worcester.

Tenbury Seconds won the toss and elected to bat on a good bowling track yet managed to score a respectable 169 for 9 off 45 overs. Best batting came from A.Taylor (64) and Dan Thompson (44).
James Burgess (3-30) led the assault which reduced Hanley to 92 in 29 overs.
Particular good fielding came from the teenage Gough brothers.
Next week the Seconds are at home to Old Vs.
